Unfortunately, I think that the BBC is suffering as much from
incompetent technical journalism here, as much as anything else.  Of
course, admitting the growth of these linux-based devices would, in the
end, lead to embarassing questions being asked, so perhaps the junior
editors are just playing careful politics?  In an environment where the
BBC recruited 4,000 managers in order to sack 2,000 production staff
(Private Eye is the source for this), they're probably all a little
nervous.
