The thread "Who uses Linux for serious work" has degenerated a bit,
so I wanted to start this as a new thread.

Let's expand the question.
What are the applications that run on BOTH Linux and Windows,
that you use to do serious work?

Please feel free to include all Open Source Software (free or
commercially supported) such as.
   Firefox
   Thunderbird
   SeaMonkey

Feel free to include Multiplatform Java software such as:
   Eclipse
   Jakarta
   Struts
   OpenOffice
   StarOffice

Feel free to include closed source that has been ported to Linux as
well as Windows such as:
  Adobe Acrobat
  Adobe Flash
  Lotus Notes
  Star Office

If you use Windows as your primary platform do you use Linux
compatibility tools such as:
  Cygwin
  VNC
  Cygwin X11
  Hummingbird
  Tortoise CVS
  Perl,
  PHP,
  Python
  MySQL

Finally, if you use Windows, other than MS-OFFICE, what Windows Only
software do you need?
Describe it's function in general terms and functionality.
Describe what specifically is needed that is not provided by other
multiplatform software.

I suspect that as more OSS and multiplatform has become available for
Windows,
I also suspect that Multiplatform software is closing the
"Applications Barrier to Entry".

I'd like to see if there is a real and critical gap that is forcing
people to stay with Windows.

Feel free to describe HOW you use these tools, on the desktop or in
conjunction with a server.
