Ars Technica reviews KDE 4.0

| The Plasma roadmap for KDE 4.1 also sheds some light on what the developers
| hope to accomplish: scripting, semantic zooming, much-needed documentation,
| support for WebKit in plasmoids, magnetic grouping, better configuration
| handling, panel configuration, and support for real Qt widgets on Plasmoids
| using Qt 4.4, and plasmoid flipping. If the Plasma developers can get all of
| that ready to go for KDE 4.1, it will be a major victory. At the KDE release
| event, I discussed long-term Plasma plans with Seigo, who revealed that
| impressive features like network transparent Plasma configuration and data
| sharing is on the horizon. Seigo also hopes to experiment with new approaches
| to desktop file management inspired by real-world usability testing and
| observation of user habits.

Ars at the KDE 4 release event

| KDE 4.0 is a very rough first step towards fulfilling the goals outlined by
| Seigo in the keynote presentation, but a clear path has been laid for going
| the rest of the way. The KDE development community believes that the monthly
| bugfix releases and the upcoming 4.1 release in July will resolve many of the
| serious issues that detract from the quality of the user experience in 4.0 as
| the KDE 4 vision becomes a reality.

Goodbye Vista, KDE 4.0 Has Arrived!

| There are only few people who know that if you look out of your 'Windows',
| the world is much more vivid and beautiful. Apple is known for its good
| looks, but it’s excessively expensive, while Vista is a big disappointment
| (check Tech Cold War 2007!). Now, there is GNU/Linux which, in fact, is free
| and offers much more options and freedom than Windows or Mac. One of the most
| popular desktop environments on GNU/Linux platform has come out in a new
| flavour - KDE 4.0.
