Even "real" Linux proponents and activists (not the rabid COLA zealots)
have praised Gates for the work his foundation does. Just this week Mitch
Kapor and Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols had the intellectual honesty to
acknowledge the work of the foundation.
Only the mentally limited morons like Roy Schestowitz, Liarnut and
[H]ypocrite continue to whine about some nonsense of how Gates is using
this to enrichen himself through "tax write-offs" which they cannot even
begin to explain.

Heck, much as I dislike Gates' actions as a CEO, he really is doing good
with his Foundation -- thanks Melinda, I give you most of the credit for
this sea-change -- and in the end maybe he'll end up doing more good than
harm.

I have tremendous respect for what Bill and Melinda have chosen to do with
the great wealth that Microsoft afforded. The Gates Foundation is tackling
some huge challenges in global health with courage, innovation, and
persistence, the same qualities which represented Microsoft at its best.
To judge from his speech at the 2008 World Economic Forum, Bill has begun
to rethink some of his business philosophy, motivated by an interest
reducing global inequality. "Creative capitalism takes this interest in the
fortunes of others and ties it to our interest in our own fortunes in ways
that help advance both."
