Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron Alpha 5

,----[ Quote ]
| What more can I say? If I went over all the excellent features of Ubuntu I'd
| be repeating myself. I appreciate that this is only the alpha 5 release but
| the new functionality looks to be very promising indeed; of course I won't
| commit to anything until the final release is out in April but I think (yet
| again) it'll be good.

Xrandr GUI

| Finally today we've uploaded the new Xrandr GUI to Ubuntu Hardy. I mentioned
| working on a tool a couple weeks ago; I discovered that Soren Sandmann was
| also working on such a tool and was further along, so I shifted focus to
| getting that tool ready for integration in Ubuntu.

First look: Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) alpha 4

,----[ Quote ]
| Ubuntu 8.04 alpha 4 was officially released today and is now available for
| testing. This alpha offers an early look at some of the features that will be
| included in the final 8.04 release, which is scheduled for April. Codenamed
| Hardy Heron, Ubuntu 8.04 will be the second long-term support (LTS) release,
| which means that it will be supported on the desktop for three years and on
| the server for five years.

Hardy Heron Features

,----[ Quote ]
| The roadmap for hardy heron has a pretty big list of features, most of them,
| although very important, are technical and a bit uninteresting. Some of them
| should have been in Gutsy but couldn't meet the schedule. Hardy Heron is
| going to be a Long Term Support release, so there's also going to be a lot of
| fixes for existing features. So without further ado, the features which I'm
| anticipating the most are.
