Ubuntu 8.04 gets ready for beta
,----[ Quote ]
| The next major, long-term support version of Ubuntu is days away from its
| first, and only, beta release.
|
| Ubuntu has announced that Ubuntu 8.04 is now in beta freeze. What this means
| is that no new package changes are going to be allowed in the well-regarded
| Linux distribution. The only exceptions will be for bug fixes for already
| known problems.

| which means that it will be supported on the desktop for three years and on

Hardy Heron Features
,----[ Quote ]
| The roadmap for hardy heron has a pretty big list of features, most of them,
| although very important, are technical and a bit uninteresting. Some of them
| should have been in Gutsy but couldn't meet the schedule. Hardy Heron is
| going to be a Long Term Support release, so there's also going to be a lot of
| fixes for existing features. So without further ado, the features which I'm
| anticipating the most are.

Entropy - a new package management toolkit for Sabayon Linux
,----[ Quote ]
| While the development of the next stable version is indeed proceeding at a
| slower pace than it used to, much behind-the-scenes code, intended to make
| the upcoming release of Sabayon Linux stand out from the crowd, continues to
| be written daily. One of these little subprojects is Entropy, a new package
| management toolkit for Sabayon Linux.
|
| Entropy is described as a package management system that combines the best of
| Portage, Yum and APT to provide a fast, intuitive and trouble-free solution
| for Sabayon Linux users. It consists of several tools. The text-mode client
| called "Equo" was already available in a previous Sabayon Linux release, but
| the graphical client called "Spritz" is expected to make its first appearance
| only in version 3.5. Other tools that make up the Entropy kit
| include "Reagent" and "Activator", which are server applications.

Review: Sabayon Linux 3.4a
,----[ Quote ]
| Sabayon Linux is a distribution that has nearly everything for everyone in
| one nice, neat little package. Well, I can hardly call it small, given that
| it expands to over 9.5 gig once installed. Overall, the hardware support is
| quite good as well. In fact, it’s really good.

Sabayon Linux 3.4 review
,----[ Quote ]
| Sabayon is one distribution that can give all major distributions a run for
| their money and it is almost there as well. The power of open source can not
| be felt with binary distribution packages, the real power comes with custom
| compilation, and an environment that provides an easy way to do the same.
| Sabayon is the kind of environment that one should be looking at if s/he
| wants to harnass the true power.
|
| Hope that sabayon mantains its right track and iron out the rough corners so
| that we can rely on a really briliant star.
