Actually, in the context of the most recent remark it was referred to as the
competition. But if you want to see Microsoft's real attitude, forget
about "threat". Watch this:

Microsoft on "Jihad... Jihad... Jihad... Jihad...

Also:

'For this reason, to use their
own words, Microsoft sought to “undermine”, “piss on” and “steal” the
java language, just as they considered themselves to be engaged in a
“jihad” against Netscape.'

http://www.news.com/News/Item/0,4,30023,00.html?st.ne.lh..ni

Also:

Allegedly CNET reporter used confidential internal e-mail from Microsoft in his
article “Microsoft’s holy war against java”.'

http://www.salonmagazine.com/21st/log/

There are many other examples like Ballmer about "burying a f*cking p*ussy" who
runs Google, tilting all sorts of products "into the death spiral", Allchin's
desire to "slaughter Novell"...

One of my friends opines that Microsoft is a greater threat than Al Qaeda, but
I don't agree with him. He actually thinks the armed forces should intervene.

Microsoft is an elitist culture, but how dangerous it is I'm not sure. I know
it bullies a lot of people, by proxy.
