Will the real KDE Research Team please stand up?
,----[ Quote ]
| I see the KDE Research Team working in three distinct areas:
|
| * KDE Research can act as a forum for collaboration amongst KDE folk
| wishing share (and ultimately validate) their ideas and to make joint
| funding bids.
| I am hosting a meeting in London all this week to see how well this
| works. So I'll leave this for now and comment on it later in the week.
| The project we're building is really quite cool.
| * KDE research can act as the first point of contact for researchers
| wanting to study KDE development.
| Empirical research of Free Software projects is becoming increasingly
| popular. Often the data obtained by these researchers needs context
| from within the project being studied in order to be qualitatively
| assessed.
| * KDE Research can act as medium for channelling useful research results
| and concepts through to the KDE community as a whole.
| There is an unwritten rule of research which makes researchers
| duty-bound to do this anyway. Normally the cool stuff we do is
| presented in lectures, conference papers, journal articles, etc. I
| think it's important that useful research results (whether its our own
| or others') get through to KDE developers who may benefit from the new
| information.

| Lots of you have asked why it took me so long to publish this article. Well,
| I was just waiting for rev 790000, that’s all. I hope that your curiosity
| will be satisfied since there’s been a lot of changes to describe this time.
| I did my best.

Plasma Themes Contest
,----[ Quote ]
| The KDE Plasma team is inviting everyone to participate in a contest to
| create Plasma themes from which a select few will be chosen to be included as
| a part of the upcoming KDE 4.1 release. This is a great opportunity to
| contribute to a very visible component of the KDE project, the Plasma
| desktop.
