Microsoft and JasperSoft connect on Excel

| Work between the companies continues Microsoft's strategy of ensuring that
| Windows remains the platform of choice for users running open source
| applications and middleware, so they do not drift into using Linux instead.

How Sad is That, Microsoft?

,----[ Quote ]
| So there we have it: Microsoft's world, there is no such thing as
| disinterested generosity, no such thing as altruism. Which means, of course,
| that Richard Stallman, Linus Torvalds and Tim Berners-Lee - to name but a few
| of those so-called "altruists" - are, in Microsoft's opinion, nothing but
| liars or utterly self-deluded....
|
| What a sad, cold, lonely little circle of hell Microsoft inhabits.

Watch what Glyn Moody points to. Microsoft is morbidly obsessed with just
money. It simply cannot accept the argument that volunteering and good will
exist.

| "Microsoft says open-source software is un-American. Has the
| company completely lost its mind?
|
| Once upon a time, Microsoft executives confined
| their criticism of Linux and free software to old-fashioned FUD
| -- fear, uncertainty and doubt. Linux wasn't good enough for
| enterprise-class systems, they declared. You couldn't get
| quality support, and it was too hard and clunky for average users.
|
| Fair enough. But now, judging by comments made Wednesday by
| Microsoft's operating systems chief Jim Allchin (and reported
| by Bloomberg News), it turns out that free and open-source
| software is something far worse than anyone could possibly have
| imagined. It is nothing less than a threat to the American
| way of life! "
