Google Chrome . . . for Linux?!

,----[ Quote ]
| As some of you know, Google released a new browser recently, something called
| Chrome. The idea is/was to fix everything that is wrong with browsers and
| make the Web browsers a tool to run applications. As opposed to just viewing
| Web pages. I'm being a bit silly here, but Chrome is built to be more like an
| operating system than a plain old browser. There's more but it's all only for
| Windows users since a Linux version doesn't yet exist. Wait . . . What? Check
| out this screenhost (click it for a full screen view).

Google denies dissembling Windows for Chrome. The whole Windows dependency

Interview with Tom Wickline, of the Bordeaux Project

,----[ Quote ]
| Bordeaux is a commercial User Interface to the Wine software that allows
| Linux systems to run Windows software. The Bordeaux Technology Group
| distributes this software and provides professional support to companies and
| individuals running Windows apps on Linux (and soon FreeBSD). I interviewed
| Tom Wickline to get some details and find out what they're up to now.

Wine @ Work: Running MS Office and IE on Linux

,----[ Quote ]
| I like Wine and it works well for a lot of applications — well enough, in
| fact, to somewhat silence the “Microsoft compatibility crowd.” I think now
| that it’s almost version 1.0 release ready, it will garner more interest,
| developers, and adopters. I see no reason why it shouldn’t for those who
| believe that they must have certain brands of apps running in their
| environment.

The making of Wine (how to make Windows apps merrier with Linux)

,----[ Quote ]
| Enterprises badly want alternatives to
| Windows. Desktop Linux has come a long way since 1999, too. and (who knew?)
| the Mac has become the ultra chic, must-have PC. The enterprise has its
| alternatives - if it can only get those mission critical Windows apps to work
| flawlessly. Wine, in its commercial form, has been doing so for years.
|
| So, in 2008, the 1.0 version will hit the streets and the timing could not be
| more perfect. White admits that not every Windows application will work
| flawlessly on Wine, but many a critical one for the enterprise has been
| specifically optimized.
