Second netbook wave begins

,----[ Quote ]
| Another possibility may be Android. A netbook version has been rumored to be
| under development by Google, and VentureBeat recently reported that
| a "reliable source" has informed them that Intel is "preparing for the mass
| production of Google Android-based netbooks." Meanwhile, The Girvan Institute
| has stated that it will present a conference on Android development for the
| Intel Atom, as part of its "Mobile Internet Developers Conference" series
| this year.

Frustration and flight for my Linux netbook

,----[ Quote ]
| Since then, we’ve been enjoying our Linux netbook very much. We’ve tuned the
| desktop to the look and feel we each like using different user profiles,
| downloaded some of our favorite open source games and given the new computer
| a comprehensive test drive. I’m happy to report I still have confidence that
| Linux is a great fit for netbooks. I wonder if folks getting Windows XP-based
| netbooks will also be wanting to upgrade to a more modern OS? Time will tell.

Emtec debuts Linux-based Netbook with removable SSD

,----[ Quote ]
| Emtec, a supplier of laptop peripherals, is setting up a new Netbook, called
| the Gdium, based on Madriva's flavor of Linux.
| The 10-inch Netbook runs on 512MB RAM from a 16GB removable USB thumbdrive, a
| unique configuration. Wi-Fi, VGA-out, and an integrated Webcam are all
| included. It weighs in at just over 2.5 pounds.

Gdium Liberty Netbook Uses USB Key for a Hard Drive

,----[ Quote ]
| Here's a netbook with a twist: Emtec's 10-inch Gdium Liberty has no hard
| drive. Instead, it will ship with a bootable USB storage stick (dubbed the
| G-Key) that runs Mandriva G-Linux and has over 50 open-source applications
| pre-installed: including OpenOffice, Firefox, Thunderbird and Spam Assassin.

EMTEC unveils new Gdium netbook

,----[ Quote ]
| It appears that EMTEC’s new Gdium netbook is ready for prime-time, or in this
| case, ready for display at CES.  We went hands-on with a non-functioning
| prototype of the Gdium last August at IFA 2008 and now have pictures and
| specs for what appears to be the final product.

Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux)
