Release update: deep freeze, planned dates, and remaining bugs
,----[ Quote ]
| As you've probably read by now, the Installer Team has announced [1] the
| availability of the second, and hopefully final, release candidate for
| the Lenny installer. Testing of these images is highly encouraged.
|
| Following the plan outlined in the previous release update [2], we are
| now in deep freeze, which means that we'll only be migrating to testing
| packages that fix RC bugs.

A Few Questions For Gustavo Noronha
,----[ Quote ]
| How did you end up using Debian and becoming a DD?
|
| Somewhat of a long story: I started using GNU/Linux because I wanted to learn
| how to program and I got to know that C compilers were easily available in
| GNU/Linux distributions. I started with Conectiva Marumbi, in late 1998, and
| when I bought a Debian CD in early 1999 I was instantly in love.

Debian Project News - October 8th, 2008

| Steve McIntyre sent out another Bits from the DPL mail. His first topic was
| the recently finished eighth Debian Conference in Argentina. Even though many
| developers and contributors could not travel there he considered it to be a
| successful conference. He especially thanked the video team, who did an
| amazing job this year making most of the sessions available via stream as
| well as forwarding questions via Internet Relay Chat. Steve is already
| looking forward to next year's Debian Conference, which will take place in
| the the region of Extremadura in Spain.

My Debian Adventure, Part 2: Lenny
,----[ Quote ]
| Of course, I also configured my desktop and tweaked many other interface
| settings, using My Debian Adventure as a guide to remind me how I wanted
| things to look. I guess I'll go through my entire Debian Adventure, to see
| what else I might want to configure in Lenny, but at this point, I'm
| already "up and running" and my Lenny system looks and works pretty much the
| same as my Etch system, only faster.
