Belkin boss 'extremely sorry' for cash-for-good-reviews

According to an open letter from Belkin big cheese Mark Reynoso, the "unethical practice" was conducted by "one
of our employees", who offered cash in exchange for good
reviews.

At least one company seems to have an ethical focus.

On a similar note, my reasonably new Microsoft USB Basic
Optical wheel mouse, P/N X800898-132 recently went bonkers.
It started causing the cursor to randomly skip to the
extreme corners of the screen, rather annoying. It didn't
matter whether in dual boot Ubuntu or Windows XP, so problem
was hardware related. Happened randomly about every 5 or 10
seconds or so. At first I thought my Biostar motherboard
might be going bad.

I had a retired Belkin roller ball wheel mouse, P/N
F8E812-PS2 in my spares bin. Brought it out of retirement
and am using it until I get another LED mouse.

Belkin mouse is of higher quality, more heavy duty than Microsoft's. I had a switch go bad on another Microsoft
mouse. My next mouse will definitely not be Microsoft.

Mouse bad behaviour down to dust in the optical mouse lens system,

Both LED and optical sensor are clean.

low battery / weak breaking cable,

Cables are good, does not use batteries.

if wireless then wireless interference (reconnect again
could cure that if it can change channels).

Wired to USB, not wireless. Basically, a quality issue.
