Yes I know a patch has been released, too bad if you blindly installed
Vistabeta7 on your system after listening to clogwog/dfs imploring everyone
to try it (before the patch came out).
Ballmer said, ?we are on track to deliver the best version of Windows ever
and working hard to get it right.?
Brilliant start monkeyboy!! the first thing they do is store a ton of extra
info in the mp3 header trying to be clever. The only problem is the MP3
file header size is limited to 16 kilobytes.
Microsoft didn't bother to check if the added info (i.e. album art) exceeded
16k and just forced it into your MP3 files by default. Where the new data
and existing header data exceeded 16k, Microsoft just blew your MP3 audio
data away to make room.
Whatever ...
Do you *really* want to trust your data to Windows7?
Microsoft are basically saying "Ok, we have corrupted your data, but we
**said** we were sorry" ...
actually Microsoft haven't said they were sorry, they just point you to a
patch.
Don't despair tho, if all your MP3s are stuffed, and it will take you a
couple of months to re rip your CD/Record collection, all is not lost,
COMPENSATION is available!
I hear that Microsoft are taking FULL responsibility and you can claim up to
$5 compensation.
That's accountability for you, someone to blame, ...... yes, the buck stops
at Microsoft!
Well a maximum of 5 bucks anyway.

Microsoft is warning users of the new Windows 7 Beta of a flaw that can
permanently impair your MP3 files, including purchased MP3 tracks.
Microsoft said, ?every time that metadata is edited in an MP3 file that
already contains lots of metadata in the file header, some audio at the
beginning of the track may be lost permanently,?
Microsoft is urging users to download a simple fix for Windows Media Center
and Windows Media Player for Windows 7 to avoid compromising your music
collection. Microsoft just recently uncapped downloads for Windows 7 until
Jan 24 2008.
At CES, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said, ?we are on track to deliver the
best version of Windows ever?and working hard to get it right.? Windows 7
should hit shelves by late 2009 at the earliest, or early 2010
