The project was ill-fated from the beginning.  It was terminally stupid
to introduce, what was claimed?  30 million new lines of code?
Microsoft might be good at many things, but software development is not
one of them.

Windows XP, released, what, 8 years ago?  A university student starting
this year would be buying something released when he or she was *10
years old*... Amazing.  How many things have moved on in that time?

Contrarily, how many exploits have been found for XP in 8 years...
