Things that would change my mind
,----[ Quote ]
| If you are in an argument with someone, and you ask them “Well, what would it
| take for you to change your mind, then?” And they answer “Nothing!”, then
| walk away. No amount of rational discourse will reach that person.
|
| I like to think I have reasoned myself into my current position; I certainly
| didn’t get up one day and throw a dart at a board and decide to hate on Mono
| for a while. So, one of the things I have to do is to challenge myself by
| asking “What would it take for me to change my mind?”
|
| Not one thing is either necessary or sufficient, but more list of solutions
| to problems I see.

On Linus and Free Software
,----[ Quote ]
| I see the situation like this:
|
| 1. Oversimplifying a situation into a dilemma is a fallacy, but that won’t
| stop me here: If you want to picture situation in the FLOSS world as having
| two poles, with rms and “Freedom or Death” on one end, and Linus “Shut up and
| code” on the other, then that’s fine. The bottom line is Free Software is
| here to stay because of the GPL, so even the most pragmatic pragmatist needs
| to come to terms with that. The converse is true, as well, of course.
|
| 2. If you blindly and unequivocally side with Linus, you are just as much in
| error as if you blindly and unequivocally side with rms. Neither are gods,
| both are men trying to figure out the best way to do things.

Linus Torvalds' opinions regarding the GPL
,----[ Quote ]
| Linus Torvalds has an uncomfortable pause at 44:24 in this video.
|
| The uncomfortable pause occurs when he concludes a confused critique of the
| GNU General Public License.
|
| This video was from 2001 and a lot of time has passed since then. Perhaps
| Linus is feeling a bit more positive about the GPL than he was at that time.
| Perhaps not though, because he doesn't seem very inclined to begin the
| process of moving the Linux Kernel to GPLv3.
