UbuntuOne - My Thoughts
,----[ Quote ]
| Having already used DropBox (a very similar service) i much appreciate
| Ubuntu's tight integration. I also find that Ubuntu One sync's much quicker
| than the same files in my dropbox folder - this might be dependent on server
| traffic for each serivce, however.

Linux Mint 7 (Gloria)
,----[ Quote ]
| So far everything has been running smoothly with the only minor issue I have
| is that sometimes, things seem to load slowly like Firefox for example. This
| could be attributed to some of the addons so I’m going to check those by
| eliminating them one by one to see if there’s a difference.

Linux Mint 7 ScreenShots
,----[ Quote ]
| Here we bring you yet another set of Screen Shots, but this time it is of
| Linux Mint 7 ( Gloria ). Let me start off by saying this... I've been
| using/managing Linux for almost 11 years now and I want a desktop that just
| works.. I am so out of that phase on making things work together ( Unless it
| is programming ). Linux Mint has done that for me, so I really want to say
| THANK YOU to Linux Mint Staff and Users for all the work you guys have done
| and for taking the time to make my life easier.

Review: Linux Mint 7
,----[ Quote ]
| Overall, I'm very impressed with Linux Mint 7. It's once again outdone
| itself and easily holds the title as one of the best new user distributions
| out there. When I first loaded it up, I was worried that they had reached
| their pinnacle and Mint 7 would be their first step down as every distro does
| after a while. Some just sooner than others.
|
| But nope, Mint 7 is still climbing the mountain to bigger, better, greater,
| faster, and more awesome than all of it's predecessors. It's always
| encouraging to see a distro always getting better, despite how good it was
| before.

Getting to the root of Ubuntu.
,----[ Quote ]
| Well I am one of those who went to Debian after using Ubuntu, Kubuntu to be
| exact. In my case I did a complete reinstall from scratch. Just the other day
| as I was squeezing my personal installation into the latest testing mold it
| struck my mind that if I could do this sort of work easily with aptitude then
| why not try and convert Ubuntu to Debian.

| codecs. The release is based on Ubuntu 9.04 (aka Jaunty Jackalope), the
| 2.6.28 Linux Kernel, X.org 7.4 and GNOME 2.26.

Linux Mint 7 "Gloria" - It Just Keeps Getting Better
,----[ Quote ]
| There are other Mint utilities, such as mintBackup and mintNanny, but the
| bottom line is, if you are looking for a solid Linux distribution, you can't
| do better than Ubuntu, and if you want it to be better packaged and easier to
| use, then Linux Mint is definitely worth a look.

Sooner (Linux Mint 7), Later (Fedora 11) and Now (ooVoo 2.1)
,----[ Quote ]
| It looks like Linux Mint will be making their next release, 7 or "Gloria", in
| the next few days, according to the Linux Mint Blog. This is good news,
| because the new release is based on Ubuntu 9.04 "Jaunty Jackalope", which
| means you will get OpenOffice 3, and quite a few other nice updates. Of
| course, there are lots of Mint-specific updates as well, many of which look
| very nice. I've been running the Release Candidate for a couple of weeks now,
| and it is very good.

Review: Linux Mint 6 KDE
,----[ Quote ]
| Overall, despite it's late arrival (blame that on KDE, since the Devs were
| waiting for the release of KDE 4.2 before they shipped the final version,
| which IMHO was a wise choice), Mint 6 KDE is once again an excellent
| distribution.
|
| Admittedly it requires slightly beefier hardware than previous releases, but
| given the natural life cycle of the vast majority of systems, this shouldn't
| be an issue at all, as it'll work on all of the most common systems and
| hardware specs.
|
| And I am still going to say that Mint 6 KDE is user friendly, even though
| KDE4 has a slightly larger learning curve than 3.5 did, and is still on the
| upward swing towards full maturity. But even so, the entire system is well
| worth checking out and using.

Linux Mint 6 (Felicia) Review
,----[ Quote ]
| And don't just run it in Live CD mode either. Give it an install on your
| system. If I were in the market for an alternative to Windows, Linux Mint
| would definitely be at the top of my list. I still hear some people
| say "Linux still isn't ready for the desktop" and stuff like that sometimes.
|
| Well these people clearly haven't used Linux Mint.

Back to the Future
,----[ Quote ]
| Yeah. That's Linux, specifically Linux Mint 5 (Elyssa) based on Ubuntu 8.04.
| Running from the Mint 5 Live CD. After reading about the troubles another
| user had with Mint 6 and his move from Mint 6 back to Mint 5, I decided to
| download the Mint 5 ISO and boot europa with it.
|
| And it's amazing. Everything. Just. Bloody. Works. Everything.
