MySQL Server Support -- Promised and Delivered

,----[ Quote ]
| We told you it was coming. Sure, that was a while back, so you probably
| thought we forgot about it. Or maybe you thought we were simply playing
| politics, tossing empty promises to our users.

KDE desktop Blogging Client - KBlogger

,----[ Quote ]
| KBlogger is a simple to use blogging application for the K Destkop
| Environment. KBlogger integrates in KDE Kicker for easy and fast blogging or
| is available as a standalone application for KDE 4. The Interface is slick
| and tries to provide all features support on the server side for your
| convenience. Just configure your blog, load the editor and start writing.

And blogs of course usually run MySQL.

Amarok 2.1 Beta 1 "Nuliajuk" released

,----[ Quote ]
| Amarok 2.1 Beta 1 is out in the wild! Featuring one of the longest ChangeLogs
| in Amarok history, this beta release showcases what is possible when building
| on the strong technical foundations that have been laid with Amarok 2.0.

easily amused

,----[ Quote ]
| I also couldn't stand that the tab bar, that totally looked like it had a
| button like a scroll in it, wouldn't let me grab and drag it. So I
| implemented that. So not only are tab bars in Plasma animated (thank Marco
| for that) but you can now grab the tab selection and drag it to another tab.
| As a bonus: it's all animated. Click on it, throw it a bit and it moves over.

| Let it never be said that I'm not easily amused: the Weather wallpaper shows
| the weather outside on your desktop. Tonight it was a bit cloudy, so it
| showed an evening landscape with clouds. A little while later the clouds blew
| away outside and the wallpaper morphed (there's a nice 1 second fade :) into
| a nightscape with a clear starry sky. How cool is that?!

KDE 4.3 - early preview

,----[ Quote ]
| Like it or not, KDE 4.3 will be a great leap forward in this environment’s
| development. I won’t hesitate to say, it will be a bigger one than KDE 4.1 to
| 4.2. Interestingly enough, my compilation of development snapshot worked
| stable and jerk-free - no major issues there.

wallpapers and other bobbles for 4.3

,----[ Quote ]
| We have a number of new Plasma components lining up to make it into 4.3. Not
| least among them is a geolocation DataEngine, making it absolutely trivial
| for anything Plasma to get at the information either via a GPS device or by
| looking up the location of your network address if you are online. Along with
| a handful of new widgets, some I've already written about recently, we also
| have no less than six new wallpaper plugins that may make it into 4.3!

Air and KDE 4.3.

,----[ Quote ]
| Air was the wallpaper we introduced in KDE 4.2, but that is just the
| beginning of something larger. Air is supposed to be different than what
| Oxygen is, something that tries to appeal to a user base looking for a
| more "sexy" experience than Oxygen (yeah I know you are out there :) ), but
| to still have the capability of merging nicely with what we have now.

Five Improvements For KDE 4.3

,----[ Quote ]
| The new year has already brought us a nice treat in KDE 4.2. I found it to be
| a very solid desktop, yet with some issues that keep it from 100% perfection.
| I’m happy to say that 4.2 occupies all of the computers that I use, yet there
| are still some serious problems that remain. Last year I did an article
| similar to this one, detailing the things I feel would make the KDE desktop
| rise to a higher level of perfection, and now that KDE 4.2 is released, it’s
| time to do it again.

Straight from KDE 4.2.60 (KDE 4.3 trunk)

,----[ Quote ]
| I guess this is everything for this week, as you can see KMail is pretty
| useful, easy to set up (if you use the first run wizard) and, with some
| tweaks here and there, you can get a impressively clean, uncluttered, yet,
| useful interface :-)

Amarok 2.1: Mini Update

,----[ Quote ]
| I don’t like to tease too much — so to save you asking, Amarok 2.1 beta 1
| should be available for widespread testing within a fortnight. Lap it up when
| it arrives!

Amarok 2.1 - back to the future. (english version)

,----[ Quote ]
| We (padoca team) are long time Amarok users. We have seen amarok grow and
| become the best audio player along the 1.x series. We’ve seen the writing on
| the wall when 2.0 was out, the same promise and potential that embodied Kde
| 4.0 release.
|
| A rewrite, a new beginning, not perfect at first but full of potential and
| vision. Sure, some features where sorely missed (like Kde 4.0) but it was
| needed. In order to be able to make the future envisioned by the amarok dev
| team, they had to go back… they had to send amarok back in time, and it
| showed.
