The desktop started with a normal full color screen complete with a
nice background picture.  Then the game, then task manager and the
cartoony ... aw crap, I said 16 _bit_ color.  My mistake.  The end
result is more like a 16 color desktop.

I had problems with desktop colors back in 1993 using Sun
workstations.  Something about the color pallet.  The screen would
flash strange colors when moving the mouse from window to window.  Not
being a graphics programmer, I doubt an explanation would help.  15
years of progress and its still a problem.
