Yeah, I'm not following Roy's reasoning here--the problem might be
that I'm incorrectly assuming that there _is_ some.
A Microsoft guy, clearly no friend of free software, goes to work for
the FCC, where he brings down the hammer on Apple (even less of a
friend of free software than Microsoft) over their never-made-clear
criteria for inclusion in the app store because of Apple's (or maybe
AT&T's) refusal to allow the Google Voice App. It's unclear that
Google is any friend of free software themselves: they've made
billions through their use of it, haven't shared improvements they've
made, for the most part, have pulled a lot of good people (e.g. Robert
Love) out of active project work, and "give back" what amounts to
perhaps four or five hours worth of their revenues to the community.
So, the enemy of my enemy's enemy is not really my friend...? (I've
always said that my enemy's enemy is not a friend on whose couch I
want to be spending the night.)
