Perhaps a newspaper that the Gates philanthropy foundation hasn't
purchased?

A mile away from the Douglas Aircraft Company campus in Long
Beach CA was nearby.  So MS is a drop in the bucket in
comparison?  A mile away would be in the "neighbourhood".

In this case it is a Catholic church location, so perhaps it is
considered as inappropriate?  In the spirit of benevolence, I
think not.  However, nearly all charities have been suffering in
the US, because overall contributions are down.
