A post on the Chromium mailing list, penned by Marcus Greenblatt asked:
âOut of curiosity, what work remains to support a 64-bit build on
Windows?â

Googleâs initial response from programmer Marc-Antoine Ruel was to declare
a need for âmotivationâ, some âsandbox fixesâ and a âgyp update.â

Later in the mailing list Mountain Viewâs Mads Sig Ager clarified that âV8
does not yet compile in 64-bit mode on Windows.â

Instead, this time around at least, Google has âfocused on making the 64-
bit version of V8 work on Linux and Mac at first.â

So what exactly is *wrong* with the 64bit windows mode?
It is usually a piece of cake to compile the exact same source 64bit or
32bit on linux

And, BTW, I have tried chrome. There is exactly *no* reason at all to
switch to it. Maybe that changes in the future, but currently, the
existing linux browsers are better, with no exception
