Could Sony Open eBook Decision Pressure Amazon?
,----[ Quote ]
| In a move that could only be characterized as surprising, Sony announced last
| week that it was going to be using the open ePub eBook standard, which in
| theory should enable Sony Reader users to access and use any books created
| around the standard. Sony Readers will also be able to read Adobe PDFs and
| Adobe eBooks, both of which come with Adobe DRM. It's a complex announcement,
| but one thing is clear, Sony has laid down the gauntlet with Amazon, leaving
| it as the lone major proprietary reader. But is Amazon too big to care?
