Dell Ubuntu Oops
,----[ Quote ]
| Chris Smart reports on the availability of a 10â Linux netbook from Dell in
| Australia. I went to check it out and noticed some oopses on the Dell site
| â the operating system icon, and the availability of Norton Security (is
| there an Ubuntu version? I donât know). It is somewhat scary that the
| generic icon they use for âoperating systemâ is a specific logo for a
| vendorâs product (scary for competition, but also scary for that vendor as
| such usage can undermine trademark rights).

Dell Vouches for Quality of Linux Netbooks
,----[ Quote ]
| A PC World story, apparently covering the same event, reports that Finch
| revealed that in a few weeks Dell will offer Linux OS upgrades to Ubuntu
| 9.04. PC World also reports that Finch said Dell is looking into
| manufacturing ARM-based netbooks and "smartbooks". Finally, Finch was said to
| have revealed that "in certain quarters" close to a third of all Dell netbook
| shipments are pre-loaded with Linux.

Dell Inspiron Mini 10v review
,----[ Quote ]
| For that pound-under-Â200 tag, you get a netbook very much based on the
| Mini 10, but with a little 8GB solid-state drive in place of a hard disk,
| an older graphics chipset, and Ubuntu Linux 8.04 operating system.
| Bluetooth has been stripped out too, and the screen, while still all-too
| glossy and 10in in size, loses the edge-to-edge glass effect.
