A Netbook/ultramobile hybrid from Sharp

,----[ Quote ]
| It's got a pretty robust battery life--up to 10 hours,
| according to Sharp--and runs Ubuntu.
| [...]
| The way you use it, though, is more like an ultramobile
| PC. Holding the NetWalker with two hands, you type with
| your thumbs. On the right side above the keyboard is an
| optical pointer that, when you run a finger over it,
| functions as a mouse.

Sharp NetWalker PC-Z1 mini-laptop unboxed

,----[ Quote ]
| Whatâs a bit astonishing is that this tiny laptop running
| Ubuntu Linux isnât the smallest clamshell device out
| there. Jenn also takes the time to compare the NetWalker
| with the UMID mBook M1 which is even smaller and looks
| more like a smartphone with a larger-than-average keyboard
| tacked on. The NetWalker dwards the UMID, but itâs still
| miniscule compared with a typical netbook and my guess is
| that touch-typing is going to be out of the question.

Sharp PC-Z1 NetWalker Mini Netbook Hands-on

,----[ Quote ]
| The PC-Z1 NetWalker by Japanese electronics manufacturer Sharp is a mini-netbook
| with a 5" touchscreen (1024x600px) display that runs Ubuntu 9.04 or more
| precisely Ubuntu Smartbook Remix with a custom user interface adapted to the
| small size of this mobile device.

Sharp intros 5in ARM-based netbook

,----[ Quote ]
| Asus may not be so keen on ARM-based netbooks, but Sharp certainly is. Today,
| it launched the PC-Z1 Netwalker, a weeny netbook based around a 5in display
| and Ubuntu Linux and an ARM Cortex A8-derived CPU.

Sharp launch Linux based Netwalker in Japan

,----[ Quote ]
| The Ubuntu Linux on the PC-Z1 is a based on the Ubuntu 9.0.4 for ARM port,
| and with Firefox and OpenOffice, still leaves around 2GB free on the internal
| flash storage.

PC-Z1: Sharpâs Ubuntu-powered, touchscreen âMobile Internet Toolâ

,----[ Quote ]
| Sharp says the device is targeted as users who look for a device that rolls
| Internet access, an electronic dictionary and an e-Book function into one.
| The PC-Z1 goes on sale in Japan on September 25 for $450 (in white and
| black). Sharp hasnât said anything about international sales plans yet.
