There was a talk about implementing something similar in KDE and maybe GNOME
(gconf) 1-2 years ago, but it was shot down.
A set of XML (or similar) files that can be passed around are much better and more
robust. They are also portable. I can, for example, just pass all my kdevelop settings from
one machine to another by copying a directory in ".kde".
