Junior High students in Monza build their own Ubuntu computers

,----[ Quote ]
| Last November, the Confalonieri Public Junior
| High School in Monza, Northern Italy set up a
| really interesting and original optional
| course for its students. When I heard about
| it on an Italian mailing list I contacted the
| two teachers who run the course, Fabio
| Frittoli and Francesco De Gennaro (quoted
| below as F&F for brevity) to know something
| more.

IT: Italian government to increase use of open source in schools

,----[ Quote ]
| The pilot projects will take place in the Scuola primaria 154 and the Enrico
| Fermi Institute of Technology. The pilot should encourage other schools to
| also increase their use of open source operating systems, office productivity
| tools and for email. Another goal of the pilot is to increase the use of
| collaboration tools, especially those developed as open source.
