Leafpad: Yet another Linux text editor

,----[ Quote ]
| In my most recent series of articles I have
| been highlighting different Linux text
| editors. Why? Because a lot of users hate
| using text based editors. Although a big fan
| of the text-based editor (I like the
| simplicity and the speed), I can see where a
| solid GUI tool would be far more appealing
| to many users than the text-based editor.

Discrete Geometry ViewerâImage Analysis and Manipulation

,----[ Quote ]
| Developed by Australian PhD student Shekhar
| Chandra at Monash University, Discrete
| Geometry Viewer (DGV) is an intriguing piece
| of software. As a general package, DGV,
| along with its various extensions, is a
| quantum mechanical toolkit and 3-D viewer
| for C++. It allows data visualisation via
| images, surface and volume plots using
| OpenGL, as well as rapidly developed Quantum
| Mechanical Simulations. It uses the Blitz++,
| VTK visualisation and open-source Qt
| libraries.

gThumb: The Free Software IrfanView

,----[ Quote ]
| So you've done it, you moved over to
| GNU/Linux (or you made your move a while
| ago). Everything works and you're happy with
| it. Well, for a while now, I've been asked
| the same question on many occasions, a
| question I did not previously have a good
| answer to, "Can I use IrfanView with Debian
| [Ubuntu, Fedora, etc.]".
|
| [...]
|
| There is even plugins for burning files to
| an optical disc, and uploading images to
| Facebook, Flickr, and Picasa Web Albums.
| Right from inside gThumb.
|
| And just for the record, gThumb starts in --
| well, I'd like to time it, but it starts to
| fast. gThumb starts in less than a second on
| my single-core system, I can only imagine
| what it's like on an Intel i7.
