The Data

The work of Katherine Smith investigated warps on a simple bump-like curve (see Figure $[*]$ ).

A real set of data in a clearer, more static form is shown in Figure $[*]$ . Smith attempted to register the data using the principle of model complexity minimisation where the model is constructed from the entire set of simple 1-D bumps.
