When I started with Linux, I thought the same. However to me it looked
that I only booted into linux and then back to Windows. When I ditched
Windows completely, I was up to speed in about 1 week.
I tried the dual boot part for several months. So I would very much say
that ditching Windows as soon as possible is a good thing.
