The title made it less than apparent. It was something along the logical
lines of Linux desktops or laptops (even preinstalled) cost less than a
complete Vista. And, needless to mention, Linux distributions like SUSE are
far beyond complete and are sometimes supplied by the (smaller) OEM's,
including the one from whom I bought my home machines.

A lot has been said about the confusion this fragmentation would cause, so
this opinion is unilaterally agreed upon. I wonder what logic stands behind
all of this. Maybe Microsoft is 'Killing the Goose'.
