"Find a need and fill it" is the age-old advice, roy!  If that means setting 
a new standard as a lone supplier, so be it.  Those that come along late and 
want to sponge off of the innovator's territory are going to face this 
proprietary condition over and over.  They should just be glad when there is 
no patent issue.
