Why would front ends not be scriptable... or be able to make scripts?  I do
not know about Apple's upcoming Time Machine, but I do know other backup
utilities are scriptable on OS X.

Vista is still a work in progress... seems MS will go through similar
growing pains as Apple did a few years ago when they moved to OS X.
