Johnny,

There have been debates in this group where several (disruptive) individuals
claimed that IE7 was a significant improvement, from the point-of-view that
is Web standards. The same claims was made in other contexts, e.g.
Microsoft's sequel for Frontpage -- yes, that which spews Microsoft 'HTML'
out upon our Open Web.

Showing the public IE7 for what it truly is remains a strong priority. The
sales pitch from Redmond will continue to praise IE7. Microsoft's intent is
to deter people from downloading Mozilla Firefox, or Opera, or whatever. If
Internet Explorer is the only browser used, standards can be ignored. MSIE
becomes /THE/ standard. This also means that any platform which Microsoft
snubs is unable to render pages, e.g. owing to proprietary ActiveX controls,
embodying the embrace-and-extent strategy. There is no question about it.

Best wishes,

Roy
