Have you tried heading towards particular datacentres? You can do this by
entering IP addresses (rather than allow the google.com domain to have you
assigned to one near you), This can also affect search results during time
of flux (typically around updates).

"Seattle", you say? Maybe someone is responsible [sarcasm /]. It's funny when
people come to the search engines newsgroup and blame Google's use of
bandwidth for Yahoo downtimes. This has happened several times and it
reminded me of how some people blame Microsoft for conspiring against its
competition. Hmmm.... how can that be...?
