Obviously it need not even be said how easy this is with technologies
like ssh and X.
...Which to many remain an unknown. PuTTY is fortunately becoming common
knowledge -- a Swiss Army knife to Windows users, if you like. I see more
and more IT staff who are becoming familiar with PuTTY, which is 'that tool'
they can use to connect to the backends. Now, if only they had also used
Linux on their desktops...
Some of us just don't have a choice. At least with Cygwin/X and PuTTY,
even people forced to use Windows at work can connect to our home
machines and work on them.
BTW, it freaks people out here when they see my desktop with the KDE
Kicker at the top of the screen, the Windows taskbar at the bottom and a
mixture of Windows and X clients running side by side.
