I don't think anyone actively excludes women from open source.

Women make the best programmers. Bold statement, but its true and its
scientific. Unfortunately I can't prove it to anyone because it was a test
done in the MOD (if I told you I would have to shoot you after you read
it).

But what ever people like to think, men and women are different, and one of
those few areas where the differences show is in any area that requires a
disciplined methodical approach. We know ourselves that as men when we have
a project, we will do the interesting bits first giving less time and
effort to the less interesting bits. Then guess where the bugs tend to be
in finished software.

In the trials I mentioned, each of the women tended to work from A to Z. The
men tended to work A-J-X-...B.

Call me anything you like, but I saw the test and the results.

Then in the years where all my main work was programming I occasionaly
worked with women (they weren't many around), the projects always finished
in a more timely accurate way. Probably not as much fun to do it that way,
but in the end its the cheque at the end of the contract that counts, that
and minimising the risk of having to go back and do support work.

So, if your a programmer bidding for a contract and there is a women bidding
for the team too, get a desk next to her. You'll earn more money because
you will get to the next contract quicker.

But of cause there are other places in life where women are just plain
useless.

Snooker, pool, darks, football, rugby, wrestling or driving.

Girls can't do any of those, so it evens things up, nature likes balance.
