Forget print ads. What they need to do is get demonstrations in people's
hands. Have Linux kiosks in malls staffed by semi-knowledgeable users
(perhaps they should tap local LUGs?), have a few computers, and let
people try it themselves. Pass out Live Linux disks to anyone interested,
and have a few boxed sets on hand for anyone willing to buy right then.
There needs to be something like the Apple Store for Linux, only less
upscale. Linux companies wanting to hit the desktop need to focus on
presenting an 'every man's computer' image, rather than trying to hit
elitist snobs like Apple does.
