Actually, probably not. You see, Sony had an ulterior motive in making the
PS2 and PS3 "computer-like". You see, in the UK, they charge a tariff on
game consoles, but not on computers.
Recently, the UK ruled that despite sony's claims to the contrary, the PS2
and PS3 are not computers, and thus would not have the tariff waived. This
severely reduces Sony's incentive to continue trying to make the PS2 and
PS3 appear computerlike.
