They also use the same tactics to scare OEMs that try a little bit of Linux.
They did this with Dell (links appended). You wanna try some Linux? Then the
price will go higher (but you will not know what others pay, because the OEM
contracts are all secret). Intel's adoption of Linux this week angered
Microsoft and one wonders if their subsequent decsions are the result of 
threat to the relationship. AMD and Intel are still competing over who is
giving better head to Microsoft. While Intel snubbed Vista, AMD adopted it.
Rest assured, it's all politics.

Novell and others attested to the same experience. They don't even need Men
in Black because they can just tweak the prices to 'punish'. A lot of
corruption...
