I think that people immersed in a violent environment will be affected
by it - the only question is how they cope.  If you consider a diet of
constant violent films, games, news, books, stories to be a kind of
propaganda, you should be able to see that impact is unavoidable.  The
counter argument is that "normal" people cope - both arguments have
sufficient truth in them to typically prevent the debate getting any
further, because most people consider these two issues to be opposites,
which they are not.

Well, it's their raison d'être, so they're not going to give it up.
The pro-gun lobby are going to turn up in numbers to every massacre
until the US laws are changed to stop the massacres from happening by
ensuring that such people cannot buy or readily obtain guns.
