There is no myth. Vista is the least compatible version of Windows ever
produced. Wine OTOH runs software designed for multiple Windows
versions, side by side, mostly without issue, for those applications it
supports (which judging from the shrieks of pain on the various Vista
forums and Blogs, is more than Vista ... much more).

That very nearly an accurate description of Vista, except for the
"sometimes" part.

The biggest stumbling block is avoiding the disease of their patents,
which is about the only thing they're good at.
