Well, I do know MS keeps threatening to drop its bundled status from
Windows, but enough software vendors complain that they always end
up keeping it in (still a lot of CAD software and the like that uses
it).  The same saber rattling happened with Vista, but once again it
sounds like OpenGL is staying stay in.  I think it even includes a
new OpenGL over DirectX translation layer as well as the traditional
vendor supplied drivers.

>From a purely marketing perspective, it makes sense for MS to boost
DirectX over OpenGL as they have nothing to gain from OpenGL's cross
platform appeal.  Some might call that an evil plot, others, business
as usual.  Whatever.  Until DirectX goes fully cross-platform, OpenGL
has nothing to fear from Microsoft plots, real or imagined.
