Consumers in the UK are being kept deliberately in the dark about this. MS
UK appear to be using the motto "what the eye doesn't see........"
Here is an extract from a reply I got from MS UK on this subject from one
Clint McCarthy of the Microsoft Response Management Team UK :

"The pricing model was developed using careful evaluation of the required
infrastructure, associated costs and industry standard pricing
models.ÂPurchase prices are consistent and fair within geographic bands and
calculated using GDP (Gross Domestic Product) per capita."

As a Management Accountant that is COMPLETE TOSH AND TRIPE. Never, in my
wide range of experience in many different ectors have I come across the
use of "GDP per Capita" in pricing calculations, and anyway, that's a great
own goal, as the UK GDP per capita is LESS than that of the USA. In other
words, MS UK is ripping the UK consumers off yet again....
