Security measures will always introduce a certain amount of overhead,
however Symantec are infamous in the industry for pushing that overhead
to unacceptable extremes.

Probably for the same reason that it is virtually impossible to remove
*any* Windows software completely, without resorting to near-forensic
methods (or resorting to the Microsoft tried and true WipNReinstall®
solution). Windows completely lacks proper package management.

To use the antonym of an old programming adage: You should always pop
what you've pushed. Why this is so difficult for Windows programmers to
comprehend, much less implement, is one of the greatest mysteries of the
Windows platform.

My advice is to simply not use Windows.
