What's this "quick migration" business; Microsoft confusing you again?

,----[ Quote ]
| Enough said. Decide for yourselves if you still want to call this
| junk "Quick" migration. It ain't all that quick. I say: "quick",
| let's "migrate" before they change their minds again! Not that you need to
| migrate anything real since Microsoft's offering isn't available at this
| point.

Quick like ReadyBoost? Quick like startup time (which people say has become
worse in Vista)? Is it quick as in UAC nags? Or impractical GUI?

Vista: Slow and Dangerous

,----[ Quote ]
| Most of the time I spent testing Vista was with sluggish pre-release
| versions. I expected things to improve when I ran the finished software
| on PCs configured for the new Windows version. I now realize that
| Vista really is slow unless you throw a lot of hardware at it.
| Microsoft claims it will run with 512 megabytes of memory. I had
| recommended a minimum of a gigabyte, but 2 GB is more like it if
| you want snappy performance.

|
| The most exasperating thing about Vista, though, is the security
| feature called User Account Control. UAC, satirized in an Apple
| ad as a security guy who constantly interrupts a conversation,
| appears as a pop-up asking permission before Windows...

Windows ReadyBoost Doesn't Deliver

,----[ Quote ]
| I don't know if this is a problem with Vista or the drive, but it is
| annoying to have to check to see if it off and then turn it back on
| again. Sometimes the disk space is used after ReadyBoost is off,
| forcing me to format the flash drive again before turning it back on.

Vista, iTunes and ReadyBoost do not play well

,----[ Quote ]
| The only solution for the problem is to unplug your ReadyBoost drive, close
| and restart iTunes and then play back your video normally. I have
| replicated this no less than 30 times on my laptop with a ReadyBoost
| drive plugged in. Unplugging the drive never fails to fix the problem
| and plugging it in never fails to cause the problem.

Microsft Vista's ReadyBoost: Is worth the hype??

,----[ Quote ]
| The performance gain in second time 18seconds vs 5:30 seconds was
| due to SuperFetch technology which has nothing to do with ReadyBoost.
|
| Then Microsoft Word 2007 was loaded. Without ReadyBoost for first time
| took 5 seconds and with ReadyBoost took 26 seconds :-s.
|
| [...]
|
| Is ReadyBoost meant to work this way :-/ Is this a Flaw in Vista or like
| Microsoft is doing making Flaws as Features. Is this also a feature??
|
| The mystery continues....
