A partnership instead of a takeover? Is that allowed these days?

That Ajax, what a huge difference it makes, how it went unoticed for so
long I have no idea, but now it has been spotted it sort of makes a mockery
of the more convoluted means of interaction, those were slight of hand
while Ajax in just magic.

Even .NET2, it seems interactive if your clever about it, but put your
controls into an Ajax section and you get interaction in a way that makes
the rest of NET2 look static. Who ever it was who came up with ajax,
pre-naming ceromony, deserves a bit of praise, if anyone knew who it was
that is.

I just tried to do my current project on net2 with Ajax as it happens, but
there is still after the year or so since I did my last net2 project,
exactly the same problems as I had the first time round. It has a lot of
trouble if you mix coded controls with static controls, overlapping divs,
even if you use fixed positioning (which is pants anyway, and unfriendly to
alternate displays) and buttons flying off the screen and things. The
Master page that surrounds your other pages so there is only one place to
change menus and styles, has not improved in the slightest, some controls
will stick inside the page sections, some will not, they float around like
butterflies flitting from div to div, you have to squash the buggers and
find another way to do what you were aiming at. Even the tutorial videos,
there is a place where the tutor found a bug, the bug is still there so it
is still on the video. How many millions has MS spent on this again? I
think they ought to check anyone in the development division actually
clocked in.

Can't do anything in Mono because too much of the documentation doesn't
exist. Almost every function/object/class that sounds like it is the one
you might want, you look it up to make sure and 'The document for ... is
not yet written'. We just need the function or class header texts lads, is
that too much to ask? You ask us to help you with the documentation, so put
that info up then we can try the code and return with some docs. (if you
are on the Mono team, concider your hand slapped).

So I have to do this with php and Ajax. I like php, quick and easy, lots of
modules to pick from, you go on php net and it's like a pick-n-mix in the
supermarket, I sometimes wonder if I can pick out enough snippets/classes
to build a whole project without me writing a single line of code. Then I
think don't be stupid Rob, where would the world be without my many home
made bugs and unreadable web pages with style sheets that put luminous
green text on bright yellow backgrounds? I admit openly I don't have an
artistic streak in my body, to me adventurous decorating is blue in the
bathroom and green in the kitchen, and it wasn't my fault that I got the
pattern on the living room wallpaper upside down, I thought they were meant
to be vines, turns out they some sort of daisy, you wait till I see
Titchmarsh, I'll clip his blooming ear.
