The problem you have here is not one of intelligence, rather one of
motivation. You could also argue that people should build their own
cars or bikes, or at least maintain their own cars, or washing machines,
or bikes, or whatever.
Unfortunately, even with the best will in the world, there's only /so
much/ time one can set aside for such tasks :-)
