Your statement makes it sound like this is some kind of way that Microsoft
escaped punishment, when no punishment could have ever been a possible
outcome.
You're supposedly a smart guy, why do you invent these ludicrous comments?
Microsoft is expected to be guilty of something, not just careless in regard
to causing actionable damages. So, guilty as sin, they have managed once
more to buy their way out by bribing the state officials and courts. Or so
they try to spin it. Microsoft as a slippery felon is more useful than
Microsoft as responsible for damages in the image to be built. Courts and
government administrations on the take is equally convenient in explaining
why the beat goes on. The fact that the anti-MS crowd deems Microsoft's
sale tactics as more egregious than a government for sale is indicative of
how warped their values have become.
