CentOS hasn't been mentioned much recently. Their release of version 5 made a
buzz, but Fedora is still much more visible. When Red Hat sells many of its
RHEL desktops (yes, desktops), then maybe CentOS might follow? Global Desktop
seems somewhat closed (and not free).
